Republic Bank is committed to playing its part in rebuilding a strong Barbados economy and restoring the Island’s reputation as an exemplar for financial and social stability in the Caribbean.
This assurance came from Republic Bank’s Managing Director and CEO, Mr. Anthony Clerk as he welcomed guests and dignitaries attending Republic Bank’s Christmas Cocktails event held at The Yacht Club at Port St. Charles.
Addressing an audience including Her Excellency, Dame Sandra Mason, Governor General of Barbados, and Prime Minister, the Hon. Mia Amor Mottley, Clerk said he was confident of a return to economic growth following what had been a difficult year for Republic Bank and the country as a whole.
The Managing Director drew smiles from the gathering when he recalled that as a boy growing up in Trinidad, when his neighbours constantly complained of power and water outages, the recommended solution to these problems had been to “go to Barbados… because things work in Barbados”. He said his vision and that of Republic Bank was to see things working in Barbados again and the country’s social and economic reputation fully restored and with the Bank’s continued confidence and support.
As staff, customers and directors of the Bank shared Christmas greetings, the MD and CEO also took the opportunity to say a public farewell to Republic Bank’s long-serving Manager of Marketing & Corporate Communications, Ms. Deborah Stoute who will be parting ways with the Bank after years of yeoman service. He spoke glowingly of Stoute’s overall contribution and support having worked closely with successive Managing Directors building the Republic Bank brand and reputation in Barbados.
Also speaking on the occasion, Republic Bank Limited’s Executive Director Derwin Howell, said Republic Bank was focused on strengthening its capital base, and looked forward to investing in a brighter future for Barbados and the region.
