The digital transformation of Republic Bank (Barbados) Limited is underway.
With the October 2nd launch of a new suite of technology products and enhancements fast approaching, Managing Director and CEO of Republic Bank, Anthony Clerk, told the media recently, “This really is just the start of the digital transformation journey that the Bank is now on.”
He was speaking on the sidelines of a recent motorcade to promote the Bank’s upcoming conversion and to celebrate the Barbados leg of the Republic Bank CPL 2023.
During a scheduled stop at the Broad Street Branch, Clerk told members of the media, “We will be switching over to the Republic Bank Financial Holdings Limited’s suite of technology products and that brings along with it certain benefits to customers. The important one is we will have a new internet banking platform with all the bells and whistles.”
Along with the new and much friendlier RepublicOnline banking platform, the Bank will also be introducing a new RepublicMobile app, and a new Cardless Cash feature.
Clerk said that with the launch of the new mobile banking app, retail customers will be able to do “virtually anything” on their phones related to their personal banking.
He added, “On the commercial side, the new internet banking will allow you to do a number of things including wire transfers right from the convenience of your home or your office.”
The new products and enhancements will bring the Bank in line with the competition. However, with even more features “coming very soon”, it is expected that the Bank’s digital presence will be further expanded.
Regarding the CPL, Clerk said that after several years as the league’s official banking partner, Republic Bank Limited was thrilled to be the new title sponsor of the competition. This is the first year in a three year contract.
“CPL, as we know, is the biggest party in sport but apart from that cricket in itself is important to the region. It is one of the unifying forces within the region so Republic Bank saw it as a natural sort of sponsorship that the leading bank in the region and the leading sporting event in the region should be coupled together. So it’s the RBL CPL,” he said.
