Republic Bank Volunteers Unite to Clean Up Barbados

Republic Bank (Barbados) Limited is reaffirming its commitment to environmental responsibility and community service, through its continued support of the Future Centre Trust’s Clean Up Barbados initiative.

On Saturday, June 7 2025, nearly 40 staff members, accompanied by family and friends, gathered at Browne’s Beach to participate in the island-wide clean-up effort. The group - including Managing Director and CEO, Carlene Seudat - focused on the stretch from the Boatyard to the back of Cavan’s Lane, an area the Bank has adopted for the past three years.

Despite the early start at 5:50 a.m., the team approached the task with energy and purpose. In just over ninety minutes, they collected more than thirty large bags of waste, along with four boxes of glass bottles and even a discarded ceramic bowl. The clean-up effort once again highlighted the pressing need for continued environmental advocacy and personal responsibility when it comes to littering and illegal dumping.

The return to this site, year after year, demonstrates Republic Bank’s long-term commitment to making a meaningful difference. While progress has been made, the consistent accumulation of waste signals the importance of sustained education, enforcement, and corporate-community partnerships. With additional support from partners like Garbage Masters, who donated a skip for the waste, the initiative was both effective and impactful.

This clean-up effort forms part of Republic Bank’s Power to Make a Difference (PMAD) Staff Volunteerism Programme, which empowers staff to give back through service-driven projects. By championing environmental causes and promoting a culture of volunteerism, the Bank continues to lead by example in its approach to Corporate Social Responsibility.

As Republic Bank looks ahead, it remains committed to fostering greater environmental awareness and encourages all Barbadians to play their part in preserving the natural beauty and health of the island’s ecosystems.
