In what continues to be a welcomed tradition at Republic Bank (Barbados) Limited, employees’ children who sat this year’s Barbados Secondary Schools Entrance Examination received a special donation from the Bank for their efforts.
Six of the ten student awardees assembled at the Republic Bank Broad Street branch and were each presented with cash and Republic Bank branded packaged supplies to assist in their preparation for the transition to secondary school.
Many of the awardees were pleased with their results and with the secondary schools they have been assigned. One of this year’s awardees, Miguel Lekah, received an additional award for scoring 100 in mathematics. Miguel stated that though he worked hard to prepare for the exam he also really loves mathematics. Soft spoken Miguel joined his cohort's in echoing sentiments of relief and joy at having completed the examination and receiving their awards.
The Republic Bank student awards initiative, now in its eighth year, represents another example of the Bank’s desire to assist in securing the wellbeing of staff and their families.
Manager, Marketing and Corporate Communications, Mischa Knight was on hand to present the students with their awards. She encouraged the young ones to focus on becoming well rounded and engaged as they enter “this next phase”. In closing Ms. Knight also remarked, “These children have grown up in the bank, they come after school and we’re happy to see them complete this part of their journey and to encourage them as they go on to this new chapter.”
The students who received donations were: Amari Abraham, Dmitri Applewhaite, Caleb Bayne, Kyah Benn, Malique Greenidge, Anyah Hewitt, Miguel Lekha, Jeremiah Reid, Alliyah Trent and Shamere Ward.
