Barbados, February 12th, 2018– Republic Bank will close its Independence Square branch effective March 29th, this year, maintaining its Broad Street branch to serve the City of Bridgetown.
Senior Manager, Retail Banking, Steven Jordan said the decision had been in the best interest of customers as Republic Bank maximises efficiencies and the cost effectiveness of its operations.
Jordan said customers had already been notified of the closure by direct mail, adding that they were also given the choice to move their home accounts to any of the Bank’s other convenient locations. He said as part of the move, customers were also being encouraged to maximise their use of alternative channels to conduct their business.
“An important aspect of our customer-centric focus is to maximise the efficiency of operations, and this is why we have decided to maintain a single Republic Bank branch in Bridgetown, with Broad Street selected as the most spacious, comfortable and convenient location for customers. We expect that these efficiencies will allow us to contain the ever increasing cost of doing business. To make sure that customers are not inconvenienced in the transition period, we have reached out to them, and provided ample notice for them to choose their preferred home branches,” Jordan stated.
The Senior Manager added that Republic Bank continued to lead the way in providing convenience and accessibility to customers.
“Even after the closure of our Independence Square Branch, we will still maintain the widest branch network of any commercial bank in Barbados, supported by the most extensive and convenient distribution of Blue Machine (ATMs). In addition, we continue to educate and encourage our customers to make the fullest use of our non-bank channels. These include our safe and secure night deposit facility for businesses and our equally secure and reliable RepublicOnline Internet banking service, where customers can conduct everyday banking transactions from the convenience of home or office.”
Furthermore said Jordan, Republic Bank was the first to introduce convenient loan applications conducted via Skype and Facetime from the comfort of customers’ homes Jordan said while the branch operations would be closed, Independence Square would continue as the Headquarters of Republic Bank, and a noted landmark in City of Bridgetown.
