Barbados, May 20th, 2019 – The Republic Bank sponsored BMW E46 M3, known to fans as the “Blue Machine”, will be looking to make a strong statement in the upcoming 30th running of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) premier motor sport event, Sol Rally Barbados 2019.
Driver Justin Campbell, partnered again this year by navigator Ayrton Bannister, said the entire Blue Machine team is feeling confident ahead next weekend’s preparatory Rally Show and Flow King of the Hill event at Stewart’s Hill in St Philip.
“This year is going to be a great year for the Blue Machine and the CRT Team and as we are confident and feeling positive about the upcoming events. We haven’t competed in Barbados since Rally Barbados 2018 and we are eager to shake down the Blue Machine in the upcoming Warm Up Stages Rally 2019 and Rally Barbados 2019,” said Campbell.
The former group SM3 champion said the normally reliable BMW should be even more so this year going into the main event at month end.
SM3 has been discontinued, and we are competing now in the Modified 3 Group where the majority of the BMWs will be vying for honours and bragging rights. This year we have upgraded some components in the drive train on the car which should improve the reliability, so I’m feeling very good about that.
Campbell said Republic Bank’s support as main sponsor continues to be invaluable to the success of the Blue Machine and Campbell Racing Team.
“Since Republic Bank joined Campbell Racing Team we have received nothing less than maximum support and love from the entire Republic Bank Team. Republic Bank will always have a special place within our team. We have built a great relationship over the years, and developed a bond that I don’t see anyone ever coming between.”
The Blue Machine title sponsor will be hoping to mark this fourth anniversary of entry into the motor sport arena with a podium finish.
Managing Director and CEO, Anthony Clerk, said the Bank is pleased with the returns so far from its investment in local motorsport and remains committed to sponsorship of the Blue Machine, and to supporting the Campbell Racing Team.
“We at Republic Bank are strong believers in supporting development opportunities for sport, youth, and the spirit of community that motorsport brings to the fans and competitors alike. We are pleased to contribute by sponsoring the Blue Machine, and proud to continue our partnership with the Campbell Racing Team,” Clerk said.
