Republic Bank has reaffirmed its commitment to the development of the sport of tennis in Barbados, renewing its sponsorship of the Barbados Tennis Association’s Inter Club Tennis Championship 2015, for the sixth year running.

General Manager, Retail Banking, Susan Torry presented the Bank’s sponsorship cheque to Association Vice President, Patricia Murray, during a recent visit to Summerhayes Tennis Club, one of the longstanding participants in the tournament.

Torry said Republic Bank viewed the annual Championship as integral to maintaining a viable tennis club structure, which was essential if Barbados was to continue producing and maintaining top tennis players on the local and international circuits.

This year’s tournament served off on February 21, and action continues each week on the way to semi-final matches scheduled for May 2nd, before a 2015 champion is crowned on May 10th. Defending champion Tennis Centre will have designs on repeating their 2014 heroics, but will face strong challenges from experienced contenders including Summerhayes, UWI, Paragon, Ocean View, and Yacht Club.
