Barbados, July 30th, 2018 – Republic Bank has moved into an eagerly anticipated new banking facility at One Barbados Place, Warrens, St. Michael.
The Bank is prominently located on the ground floor offering retail and premium banking services. A standard bearer for modern architecture in Warrens, the new building is both aesthetically pleasing and environmentally friendly.
Republic Bank’s Managing Director and CEO, Mr. Anthony Clerk said the new Branch fit perfectly into the continuing green agenda being spearheaded by the Bank in Barbados. Every square foot of space in the new Branch will be fully powered by photovoltaic cells in addition to benefitting from the energy-saving insulation technology built into One Barbados Place.
Clerk said the move followed on a programme of green initiatives introduced in 2017 including increasing electronic payments to reduce the printing of cheques; moving to e-paper subscriptions from printed newspapers; and providing educational support to community partners under Republic Bank’s Health and Safety programme’s “Going Green” sub-committee.
“We have been going green for some time now at Republic Bank and this move to a new ultra-modern branch at One Barbados Place advances that trend, and launches us further along the path towards a more holistic environmentally and economically friendly business focus,” Clerk stated.
The Managing Director and CEO praised property developers, Caribbean Consultants Limited, for their professionalism in completing the project on budget and on schedule.
“We are very pleased for all concerned, especially our valued clients, to be moving into these new offices on schedule. The timely completion avoids the potential for costly delays and affords us the opportunity to begin benefitting from the advanced environmental and energy efficient technologies. I take this opportunity to the Government of Barbados for facilitating our temporary accommodation next door these past 22 months.”
It is the third change of address for Republic Bank’s Warrens Branch, originally located in the CGI Tower, and temporarily at Republic Plaza at the Warrens Office Complex. Clerk said the relocations highlighted a positive growth trend, which since 2004 saw the Warrens Branch move from a sub branch to full branch status. The branch will feature two ATMs that will be accessible after hours with one machine to facilitate the differently abled at a lower level. A drive-through ATM is also located in the forecourt.
Erected on land originally owned by Republic Bank, One Barbados Place was completed at an investment of approximately BBD$30 million. The impressive structure features three floors dedicated to commercial rental.
