Cricket Fans win with Republic Bank

While the Barbados Tridents did not make it to the final of the Hero Caribbean Premier League T20 series, many of their fans still had much to cheer about thanks to Republic Bank (Barbados) Limited.

With Republic Bank being the official Bank Partner of the CPL, the bank’s Marketing team enhanced their efforts to engage and excite local fans by creating several promotions and social media competitions.

“COVID-19 put a damper on so many of the events we look forward to on our social calendars. We did not want the excitement of T20 Cricket to be lost as well. With all the games being held in Trinidad, we wanted to find a responsible way to inject some of the customary fun and thrill into the game and to treat local audiences to a safe and lively atmosphere in which to take in the matches. We have been happy to play our part in supporting the Barbados Tridents for local fans throughout the series, despite the many challenges due to COVID,” said Republic Bank’s Manager, Marketing & Corporate Communications Sophia Allsopp Cambridge.

Local cricket fans had the chance to win with several online promotions. With Game Predictions, fans were encouraged to predict who would be match winners, the highest scoring batsmen and the top bowlers. Winners were treated to VIP watch parties with four friends at the Tridents “Fan Zone” at Copacabana and a featured spot during the live broadcasts via Zoom.

The Bank also energised its large following on Facebook and Instagram through their Jingle Jam competition - where people were encouraged to upload a video with their rendition of the RBL CPL Official Theme Song to their page in order to win prizes. The AR Game Face Filter competition was also a fan favourite and encouraged people to post creative photos or videos to their account or feed, using the hashtags #RBLinCPL #WeInThisTogether and #GameFaceBB. Similar competitions were also open to the Bank’s employees.

“Despite the ongoing COVID-19 experience and the many ways that it is changing the way we live, work and play, we at the Bank remain deeply committed to sporting endeavours in Barbados. We recognise the tremendous role that Sports play in the lives of our citizens and we will continue to look for creative and responsible ways to support our athletes and champion initiatives that encourage community involvement in sporting activities,” said Allsopp Cambridge.
